Orange Lily on Black Background

Zero Photoshop!
It’s an original capture without any Photoshop changes. In order to create such photo (with black background),
all you need is to find a right angle with shadow behind the object. Once you will focus on the object, your camera
will calculate the proper exposure for the object and all darken areas will become black.
If you would like to calculate the exposure on your subject only, please switch to spot metering mode. With this mode,
all darken areas will be even more black.
You should try it!

Neutral Density Filter Example

This photo was taken by my kid from the rare seat of the car. The windows are tinted, so you can see the deference between open and tinted part of the sky. This is exactly how neutral density or graduated neutral density filter works.

Stolen photos on www.istockphoto.com

Today I want to share with you my experience about stolen photos.
Last week I got my  report with my stolen photos, one of the photos was on istockphoto.com. I sent email to iStockphoto compliance enforcement (ce@istockphoto.com), and a few hours later I got their response:

“Hi Alex,

Thanks for the email. Please accept this response to your support ticket as well regarding this matter.

Please be aware that our contributing Artist’s enter into an Agreement with iStockphoto, whereby they claim that they own the copyright to any and all of the stock they contribute to the site, when this is not the case we take the matter very seriously and will handle the matter accordingly.

Please be advised the image you have referenced is no longer available on our website.

Kind Regards,
Compliance Enforcement Officer”

iStockphoto removed stolen image immediately.

Example of Backlight Photography

There are few kinds of light in photography. The primary lighting conditions are: the frontlight (the light that hits straight on the front of your subject / hits your back), the sidelight (the light that hits the subject from side) and backlight (the source of light hits the back of the subject / hits the front of the photographer).

The backlight is the most difficult to photograph with. But it is often produces stunning photos.

In this post I want to show you the example of backlight exposure. I took this picture with flash on, because I didn’t want the flower to be underexposed.

Texture Photos

Every photograph, regardless of subject contains at least one if not several of elements of design. There are six main elements of design: line, shape, form, texture, pattern and color. In this post I want to show you a few images with line and texture design.
