Yes, it’s a real light. Walking down the beach I saw this amazing yellow-golden light. During that day there were sandstorms and a lot of sand was in the air, so this was a source of such light.

This photo was taken by my kid from the rare seat of the car. The windows are tinted, so you can see the deference between open and tinted part of the sky. This is exactly how neutral density or graduated neutral density filter works.
